Dr. Engie Hanna was born in Denver, Colorado but raised locally in Torrance, California. She earned her B.S in Marine Biology at UCLA and her Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine at Western University of Health Sciences. Shortly after graduating, Dr. Hanna moved to Tucson, Arizona and began her veterinary career at a local emergency hospital, then transitioned to a small animal practice setting.
After being away for 4 years, and missing the South Bay life, she moved back home and continued with small animal private practice. During that time, she realized she had an affinity for helping senior pets. She recognized the impact mobility issues have on senior pets and
decided to look for ways to improve their quality of life. Getting acupuncture herself for back pain, she wanted to provide that same relief for her patients as well, so she got certified in Acupuncture at Curacore in Colorado in 2017. The improvement she saw in her patients with just
acupuncture alone was profound and that is when she knew she wanted to do even more for them. She decided to work at BARC providing acupuncture treatments while learning rehabilitation techniques and is also currently working on her rehabilitation certification through
the Canine Rehabilitation Institute.
In her free time, Dr. Engie Hanna enjoys having outdoor adventures with her husband, two kids and dog, Penny, as well as learning new recipes from cuisines across the world, traveling, and enjoying the California sun.
